Self-esteem is a crucial pillar of emotional resilience. It's common knowledge that one's confidence can fluctuate based on the situation. The foundation of self-esteem lies in the belief that you hold the capability to tackle any situation or hurdle that comes your way.

Even if you're not brimming with self-confidence, you can still enhance your self-worth by considering the following tips:

Surround Yourself with Positivity

The saying, “Show me your friends, and I will tell you who you are,” may be an old adage, but it holds a ring of truth. Your companionship significantly influences not just your social standing, but also your thoughts and actions. Those with low self-esteem often gravitate towards people who reinforce their beliefs.

While there's no need to sever ties with your existing friends, if you aim to improve your self-worth, it's advisable to distance yourself from pessimistic individuals until you've built a robust self-confidence that no longer seeks external validation and has developed better discernment.

Maintain a Gratitude List

Life is indeed challenging, but recognizing the silver linings can remind you that it's still a beautiful journey despite the obstacles. Start by keeping a record of things you're grateful for, regardless of how insignificant they may seem.

Just waking up to a new dawn is a reason for gratitude. Successfully brewing your coffee should be next in line, and the list continues.

Be Compassionate Towards Yourself

Avoid being excessively critical of yourself. You may not be flawless, but you certainly have your strong points. Acknowledge them and use them to your advantage. While you cannot control people's actions towards you, there's no reason for not treating yourself with kindness.

Employ Positive Affirmations

Positive affirmations can significantly enhance your self-confidence. Make a positive declaration about yourself, either verbally or written. Reading this affirmation every day can reinforce your self-belief. Keep these affirmations in plain sight, like on your bathroom mirror, so you can see them when you start and end your day.

Embrace Your Flaws

Everyone has flaws, and the sooner you accept it, the better it is for your self-esteem. This acceptance will allow you to forgive past mistakes.

Your failures can be transformed into stepping stones towards success. Accepting your flaws gives you the opportunity to grow and evolve. Focus on your strengths and what you can do to improve yourself.

Keep in mind, there will always be people excelling in different areas, and accepting this will make you more forgiving towards yourself. This doesn't make them superior. Spend time pursuing what you love, as it can elevate your self-worth. Take an unbiased look at yourself and recognize your potential.

Competitiveness can be beneficial if it motivates you to excel, but it should be balanced with acceptance and the realization that you're not the focus of everything. Even if you feel small, you can still impact others positively. Accepting this will make you happier and more accepting of your flaws.
